Resumen (es)

El artículo presenta el resultado de una revisión bibliográfica sobre el modelo de doble inmersión en el contexto estadounidense, que es una de las respuestas ofrecidas por el sistema educativo norteamericano a la llegada constante de inmigrantes a este país y en la cual se deben reconocer las necesidades de aprendizaje de niños pertenecientes a minorías étnicas y lingüísticas. En el texto se reconocen ventajas y limitaciones del modelo y además se presenta una descripción de su aplicación en la perspectiva de lo que se denomina educación multicultural y bilingüe en la comunidad Amuzgo, del Estado de Guerrero, México. Como resultados favorables se reporta un mejor rendimiento académico, un bilingüismo balanceado y el desarrollo de competencias para la comunicación multicultural que beneficia no solo a los niños sino a sus familia y a las comunidades inmigrantes. A pesar de las dificultades en su implementación este modelo se expandió y llegó al territorio mexicano para favorecer el encuentro entreel español y las lenguas aborígenes.

The article presents the result of a bibliographical review on the dual immersion model in the American context, which is one of the responses of the American educational system to the constant arrival of immigrants and in which the learning needs of children from ethnic and linguistic minorities must be recognized. The text recognizes the advantages and limitations of the model and also presents a description of its application to the perspective of what is known as multicultural and bilingual education in the Amuzgo community in the State of Guerrero, Mexico. Favorable results include improved academic performance, balanced bilingualism and the development of skills for multicultural communication that benefits not only children but also their families and immigrant communities. In spite of the difficulties in its implementation, this model expanded and reached the Mexican territory to favor the encounter between Spanish and Aboriginal languages.

O artigo apresenta o resultado de uma revisão bibliográfica sobre tudo o que implica o modelo de dupla imersão no contexto estadunidense, que é uma das respostas oferecidas pelo sistema educativo norte-americano à chegada constante de imigrantes nesse país e na qual devem ser reconhecidas as necessidades de aprendizagem de crianças pertencentes a minorias étnicas e linguísticas. No texto são reconhecidas diversas vantagens e limitações do modelo. Além disso, é apresentada uma descrição da sua aplicação na perspectiva da denominada educação multicultural e bilingue na comunidade Amuzgo, do estado de Guerrero, México. Como resultados favoráveis, evidencia-se um melhor rendimento académico, um bilinguismo balanceado e o desenvolvimento de competências para a comunicação multicultural que não só beneficia as crianças, mas também suas famílias e comunidades. Apesar das dificuldades na implementação deste modelo, sua expansão chegou até o território mexicano para favorecer o contato entre o espanhol e as línguas aborígenes.
