Se reconoce la iconografía empleada en 13 libros de ciencias naturales de secundaria, que van desde el año 1983 hasta el 2004. Están distribuidos en seis editoriales, y 11 libros estaban presentes en la biblioteca de la Institución Educativa Distrital* (I.E.D.) Juan Lozano y Lozano. El reconocimiento se hizo por medio del análisis de contenido cualitativo, con el fin de identificar las imágenes habituales presentadas a los niños como complemento en la explicación al cambio biológico (en relación al darwinismo y lamarckismo). De esta muestra se analizaron un total de 31 imágenes, donde son frecuentes las jirafas, los pinzones del archipiélago Galápagos y las expresiones fenotípicas de la polilla Biston betularia.
